Daily Routines

The daily routines provide a wide variety of stimulating activities designed to promote and broaden key aspects of children’s development.

Each day is planned and structured by the managers and key workers to satisfy overall educational and development goals.

Below is the basic routine that we follow every day and we are flexible to children’s own routines when it comes to bottle feeding times and sleep times.

All nappies are checked routinely and throughout the day.

We make sure there is continuous outdoor access between 9.30 and 17.00, and sand and water is always available indoors and out.

6.25–7.00

Open – children start arriving and can choose an activity of their choice.

8.00–8.45

Breakfast is served. We offer toast and a variety of spreads, or children are welcome to bring in their own cereal.

8.45–9.30

Children can choose activities of their choice.

9.30–9.45

Tidy-up time.

9.45–10.00

Circle time. Children are split into separate age-appropriate groups for singing, stories and to talk about the day ahead.

10.00–11.00

Snack time. We provide milk, water and fruit.

11.00–12.00

Morning activities – adult-led activities from the weekly planning theme.

12.00–12.30

Lunchtime.

12.30–12.45

Nappies/toileting/sleep time (for afternoon sleepers if they require a sleep once lunch and nappies are done).

12.45–1.45

Free play or garden time (different activities are set up).

1.45–2.00

Tidy-up time.

2.00–2.15

Afternoon activities – adult-led activities from the weekly planning theme.

2.30–3.00

Nappy/toilet time.

3.00–3.15

Tidy-up time.

3.15–3.30

Snack time: savoury snacks such as crackers, cheese, wraps, pitta bread, veggie sticks etc; with milk or water.

3.30–4.30

Free play or garden time (different activities are set up).

4.30 onwards

Quiet play – stories, colouring, puzzles/tea time for any children that bring tea with them to have before going home.

Staff-Children Ratios

The staff ratio for 0–2-year olds is set at a minimum of one member of staff to three children.

The staff ratio for 2-3-year olds is set at a minimum of one member of staff to four children.

The staff ratio for 3-5-year olds is set at a minimum of one member of staff to eight children.
