Welcome to Ladybirds Pilton

Ladybirds has been providing parents with a flexible and reliable childcare service, based in the centre of Barnstaple, since 2016.

We have a bright, spacious setting with four large dedicated rooms for each age range where children are encouraged to grow and develop to their full potential. Each room reflects the seven areas of learning as outlined in the EYFS (early years foundation stage).

Ladybirds is an established community resource with dedicated, enthusiastic and professional early years education teams

Our Bumblebee room is sunny and bright with a soft play area and lots of sensory resources for stimulating senses and tactile activities to investigate and encourage enquiring young minds. This room also has underfloor heating to keep crawling babies cosy!

The Butterfly room is for children from around 24 months to 30+ months and has a range of resources for mark-making, messy play, exploring feelings, music, dancing, reading and creativity. It’s a hive of activity!

We have two separate rooms for pre-school children where they will continue to learn social skills, number and letter recognition, how to cope with a range of developing feelings as well as lots of fun stuff like construction, art, reading stories, playing music, role play and imagineering!

There’s a large outdoor area, which is accessible for all age groups. It has a pirate ship to climb, tunnels to crawl through and a shady area to chill. We have a separate area for wheeled toys as well as a fantastic mud kitchen where children are happy to make ‘pies’ and ‘cakes’ and all manner of other disgusting delights!

Full and part-time day-care is available for infants, toddlers and pre-school children from 0 to five years old.

Our trained staff have qualifications including NNEB, BTEC, CACHE and ranging from NVQ level 2 to level 5. We also have apprentices who are learning at Level 2 or training Level 3.

They use their knowledge to provide stimulating and educational activities to inspire, challenge and engage the children.

We also have a dedicated childcare manager who works closely alongside the children, parents and staff on the nursery floor.

0 Years
That's how long Ladybirds has been providing quality childcare in Barnstaple, Landkey, Swimbridge and surrounding areas.

All of the Ladybirds team are involved in continuous professional development in all aspects of their roles.

Our staff, including managers, attend a wide range of non-vocational courses including first-aid, food hygiene, child protection and a comprehensive series of specialist child play and child communication development courses.

All staff are also trained in Paediatric First Aid, have Level 2 Safeguarding, LADO and Prevent Duty training, and these skills are updated every year.

Ladybirds is registered with and monitored by Ofsted, which means that our levels of care, provision and conduct are in full accordance with nationally accepted standards in terms of content, quality and consistency.

We also work alongside the Devon Early Years and Childcare Services which provides ongoing support and guidance to all our nurseries as well as working closely with other outside agencies like Speech & Language Therapists, Nursery Plus, Occupational Therapy and Early Years Complex Needs (EYCN), who offer invaluable advice and resources.

Our aim is to provide the best inclusive care and all-round educational development for children. We also consider it vital to engage with parents in all aspects of their children’s development and this can be done through our parent app which tracks progress within the EYFS; we actively encourage parents to post and comment with their own observations at home. We also try to provide a flexible service to meet modern parenting needs; we offer full and part-time places, flexible attendance hours, Government-funded sessions and part-hourly charging.

We would love you to come and visit. You can give us a call or follow the link to leave a message.
